A recent clinical study published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine examined the effects of placing overweight or diabetic patients on a monitored low-carbohydrate diet before hip or knee replacement surgery. The findings suggest that reducing carbohydrate intake prior to surgery may help patients lose weight, improve blood sugar control, reduce the need for diabetes medication, and maintain stable glucose levels. Importantly, the study also found that the approach can be safely implemented even in older patients when done under proper medical supervision.
